Ogun State Pilgrims Begin Movement to Mina for Hajj 2025

Pilgrims from Ogun State, Nigeria, have commenced their official movement to Mina, signaling the start of the core rites of Hajj 2025.

The movement, coordinated by the Ogun State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board in collaboration with Saudi service providers, began in the early hours of Wednesday as part of the planned schedule for Nigerian contingents. Buses conveyed the pilgrims from their accommodations in Makkah to the tent city of Mina, where they will observe the Tarwiyah (Day of Preparation) ahead of the standing at Arafat.

Officials from the board confirmed that the exercise is being conducted in batches to ensure safety, orderliness, and compliance with Saudi Arabia’s Hajj regulations.

Chairman of the Board, Dr. Isiaq Yusuf, speaking from Makkah, said:

“We are grateful to Allah for the successful commencement of the movement to Mina. Our pilgrims are in high spirits and ready to begin the spiritual journey of a lifetime. We have put all logistics in place to ensure their safety, comfort, and proper guidance.”

Health personnel, welfare officers, and spiritual guides are accompanying the pilgrims to provide support throughout the period in Mina, Arafat, and Muzdalifah. Pilgrims are expected to spend the night in Mina before proceeding to the plains of Arafat for the peak of Hajj rites.

This year’s pilgrimage has drawn over 1.5 million international pilgrims to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, with thousands from Nigeria participating under the coordination of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON).

The Ogun State government has continued to urge all pilgrims to focus on their prayers, follow instructions from officials, and adhere strictly to health and safety regulations.
