Ondo State Commences Verification of Pensioners, Targets Ghost Beneficiaries

Akure, Ondo State | August 30, 2025

The Ondo State Pension Transitional Department has announced the commencement of a statewide verification exercise for pensioners who retired between 2016 and the present year.

In a statement issued by the Permanent Secretary of the Department, Chief Bunmi Alade, the exercise is aimed at ensuring accurate pension records, eliminating ghost pensioners, and guaranteeing the prompt payment of pensions and gratuities to all eligible beneficiaries.

According to the statement, affected pensioners are expected to present themselves at designated verification centres across the state with required documents, including valid identification, Bank Verification Number (BVN), retirement approval letters, and other relevant papers.

Chief Alade emphasised that the verification process is designed to enhance efficiency in pension administration and to safeguard public funds, while ensuring that legitimate pensioners continue to receive their entitlements without delay.

The department urged all concerned retirees to comply with the schedule released for their respective local government areas to avoid disruption in pension payments.
