Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has finally addressed the mounting calls from Galatasaray fans urging him to remain at the club beyond this season, following his sensational form and record-breaking performances in Turkey.
Osimhen, who has been on loan from Napoli, emerged as a key figure in Galatasaray’s triumphant campaign, netting twice in their emphatic 3-0 victory over Trabzonspor in the Turkish Cup final. The win marked Galatasaray’s 19th title in the competition, further cementing their legacy as one of the most successful sides in Turkish football.
The 26-year-old forward’s remarkable impact this season, scoring 35 goals and setting a new club record for the most goals scored by a foreign player, has endeared him to the Galatasaray faithful. Fans took to social media, launching the viral hashtag #StayWithUsOsimhen on X (formerly Twitter), passionately campaigning for him to extend his stay in Istanbul.
Addressing the campaign for the first time after the cup final, Osimhen expressed heartfelt gratitude for the overwhelming support he has received. However, he stopped short of committing to the club, stating that a final decision on his future would come after the season concludes.
“I really can’t stand the fans,” Osimhen said with a smile, acknowledging their energy and affection. “I have to make a big decision at the end of the season. I want to thank everyone for what I’ve experienced during this process. I’ll make my decision at the end of the season.”
He added, “I try to help with my goals, my assists, by doing everything I can on the field. And when I help the team, it makes me very happy. We can say that we have done 99% of the job. Let’s see, in our last match, we want to fight and complete it as well.”
The Nigerian international was full of praise for Galatasaray’s collective ambition and unity, which he credited for the club’s successful season. “When I came, what they made me feel directly was that our goals were clear,” he noted. “Galatasaray is a team that has a lot of cups, and at the same time, a team that wants even more.”
Speaking on the Turkish Cup victory, Osimhen emphasised that it was a product of teamwork rather than individual brilliance. “I don’t think that I win the matches myself, that I bring the victories. We achieve this as a team with my teammates,” he said.
Looking ahead to the decisive league fixture against Kayserispor this weekend, which could see Galatasaray clinch their 25th Super Lig title and a historic domestic double for the first time since the 1998/99 season, Osimhen pledged an all-out effort.
“On Sunday, we will fight for every ball, we will put up an incredible fight,” he assured.
Despite reports of interest from clubs in England and Italy, and questions over whether Galatasaray can afford his wage demands on a permanent deal, both the club’s management and fans remain hopeful that the Nigerian star will choose to stay.
With Osimhen’s future yet to be decided, all eyes remain on the upcoming league decider—and whether the Galatasaray faithful’s passionate plea will influence the next chapter of his career.
