Osun State Governor Introduces New Standard Measuring Bowl for Market Traders –

Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has unveiled a new standard measuring bowl, named ‘Osunwon Imole,’ for use in markets across the state. He called for the cooperation of traders to ensure the successful implementation of the initiative.

Speaking at the unveiling event in Osogbo, Governor Adeleke stated that the introduction of the new measuring bowl aims to restore fairness in trade and protect the interests of all stakeholders.

The Governor, represented by Deputy Governor Kola Adewusi, highlighted how the use of substandard measuring bowls in markets had caused significant hardship for both buyers and sellers in the state.

“Many of our traders, either knowingly or unknowingly, have used inaccurate measures that result in losses for consumers and undermine trust in business transactions,” Adeleke said. “Recognizing this challenge, our administration has taken decisive action by introducing Osunwon Imole to restore fairness in trade and protect the interests of all stakeholders. Standardization plays a crucial role in economic development. It builds trust, enhances efficiency, and makes our markets more competitive.”

By adopting ‘Osunwon Imole,’ Governor Adeleke emphasized that his administration is committed to upholding the highest standards of quality and integrity. He noted that this initiative aligns with the broader policy of fostering a thriving business environment, encouraging investments, and promoting sustainable economic growth.

“The Osunwon Imole will serve as a reliable and accurate measuring tool for our market traders, ensuring consistency in trade practices,” he explained. “It will eliminate discrepancies, promote transparency, and strengthen trust between buyers and sellers. This will not only benefit individuals but also contribute to the overall economic stability of our state. As we launch this new standard measuring bowl today, I urge all stakeholders—our market leaders and all others who use measuring bowls in their businesses—to embrace this transition wholeheartedly.”

Earlier, the State Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Bunmi Jenyo, assured that the government would ensure the diligent implementation of the initiative.
