Over 1.9 Million Nigerians Apply for 30,000 CDCFIB Vacancies, Immigration Service Tops List

The Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB) has announced that a total of 1,910,539 candidates applied for its recently concluded recruitment exercise, with the Nigeria Immigration Service attracting the highest number of applicants.

According to the breakdown, Kogi State recorded the largest number of applicants at 116,124, followed closely by Kaduna with 114,500, Benue with 110,525, Kano with 89,355, and Niger with 79,504.

At the other end of the scale, Bayelsa had the lowest number of applications with 11,669, followed by Lagos (14,215), Rivers (22,207), Ebonyi (23,601), and Delta (27,956).

With only 30,000 positions available across the four agencies, the figures indicate an extremely competitive process, giving each applicant just about a 1.57% chance of securing a job. The recruitment, which attracted interest nationwide, highlights the intense demand for government employment amid Nigeria’s rising unemployment rates.

The CDCFIB said the next phase of the recruitment process will involve a rigorous screening to ensure only qualified candidates are shortlisted.
