Abuja, September 3, 2025 – The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that more than 2.6 million Nigerians have enrolled for online and physical voter registration within just two weeks of the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise.
INEC explained that the surge in participation underscores growing public interest in shaping Nigeria’s democratic future ahead of the 2027 general elections. The exercise, which combines online pre-registration with in-person biometrics capture at designated centers, is aimed at expanding the voter roll and ensuring inclusivity.
The Commission emphasized its commitment to transparency and accessibility, noting that additional registration points had been set up in both urban and rural areas to ease the process. It further assured that young people, first-time voters, and marginalized groups would not be left behind.
INEC urged eligible Nigerians who are yet to register to seize the opportunity before the exercise closes, stressing that voter participation is critical to strengthening democracy.
