The Oyo State House of Assembly on Thursday passed a N299.8 billion supplementary budget, expanding the state’s 2025 fiscal plan from N684.1 billion to N984 billion.
Lawmaker Sunkanmi Babalola, Chairman of the House Committee on Budget, Finance and Appropriation, explained that the additional funds would cover critical projects omitted in the original budget.
“The supplementary budget addresses essential needs including the Government House reconstruction, pension payments, and provisions for the new national minimum wage implementation,” said Babalola, who represents Egbeda Constituency.
He noted the approval reflects the state government’s responsiveness to evolving financial obligations in the current fiscal year.
The budget adjustment comes as Oyo State prepares for increased expenditure amid Nigeria’s economic realities. More details of the spending plan are expected to be released in coming days.
This marks Governor Seyi Makinde’s administration’s largest supplementary budget since assuming office in 2019, signaling major capital projects ahead of the 2027 election cycle.
