Disgruntled supporters of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Plateau State took to the streets on Wednesday, protesting the alleged insufficient Ramadan palliatives distributed to party members. The protesters, who set fire to PDP billboards, posters, and relief materials, accused the local government chairman of withholding palliatives meant for party loyalists.
According to eyewitnesses, the protesters chanted slogans such as “We don’t want it! Take the palliatives to the chairman!” and warned that unless the issue was addressed, they would withdraw their support for the PDP in the 2027 elections.
The protesters claimed that the chairman allocated only nine bags of rice and nine bags of maize, each containing six measures, to an electoral ward with thousands of party supporters. This, they argued, was grossly inadequate.
Party members expressed frustration over the distribution process, with one member, Haladu Mus, stating, “Look at the small amount of grains they brought to us. How can this be enough?” Another supporter, Dayyabu Ibrahim, condemned the situation, warning that party leaders would face consequences at the ballot box.
The development has raised concerns within the PDP in Plateau State, with party members demanding fair treatment and accountability from their leaders. Attempts to reach the chairman of Wase LGA, Hamisu Amani, for his response were unsuccessful.
