The Nigeria Police Force has recovered several vehicles stolen from different parts of the country and smuggled into Ghana and Niger Republic, as part of ongoing efforts to clamp down on cross-border criminal syndicates.
The operation, led by the Interpol Unit of the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID), also led to the arrest of three suspects allegedly linked to an international vehicle theft ring operating across West Africa.
In a statement issued by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the police said the recovery followed weeks of intelligence gathering, surveillance, and collaboration with security agencies in neighboring countries.
Among the recovered vehicles were SUVs, sedans, and trucks reportedly stolen in Lagos, Abuja, and Kaduna, and trafficked through illegal border routes.
The Nigeria Police commended their counterparts in Ghana and Niger Republic for their support and reiterated their commitment to dismantling transnational criminal networks threatening the security and economy of the country.
The public was also urged to report suspicious vehicle sales or movements to the nearest police station to aid further investigations.
