The Bauchi State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board has announced that all intending pilgrims for the 2025 Hajj must get vaccinated against polio.
According to the Executive Secretary of the Board, Abdulrahman Idris, the decision was taken to ensure the health and safety of the pilgrims.
Idris explained that the polio vaccine is a requirement for all pilgrims traveling to Saudi Arabia for the Hajj, and that the Board is working to ensure that all intending pilgrims are vaccinated before their departure.
He added that the Board is collaborating with the Bauchi State Primary Health Care Development Agency to provide the vaccine to all intending pilgrims.
The move is part of Nigeria’s efforts to eradicate polio, as the country aims to eliminate all types of polioviruses by the end of 2025.
