School Headmaster Arrested for Allegedly Abusing Female Pupil In Ogun State

The Ogun State Government has announced the arrest of Ashafa Afelaja, headmaster of a private school in Eyin Ogbe, Igode near Ogijo, over allegations of abusing a female pupil (name withheld). The arrest followed a report made by a concerned citizen to the state authorities.

The Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Adijat Adeleye, confirmed the incident in a statement released on Monday. She disclosed, “Our team intervened in Adamo, Ikorodu, after receiving reports of a school headmaster physically assaulting a young female pupil. The perpetrator is currently in police custody, and we are actively monitoring the rescued child and her mother to provide the required care and support.”

Adeleye further reassured the public that the victim is receiving appropriate medical and psychological assistance. She emphasized the Ministry’s commitment to pursuing justice for abuse survivors and collaborating with law enforcement to ensure swift action against offenders.

She also encouraged vigilance among the public and urged prompt reporting of any child abuse, domestic violence, or maltreatment cases. Adeleye reaffirmed the government’s zero-tolerance stance towards gender-based violence and child abuse under Governor Dapo Abiodun’s administration.
