In a significant operation aimed at curbing banditry in Katsina State, security forces have successfully neutralized five suspected bandits and apprehended three informants believed to be providing logistical support to the criminals. The operation, conducted by the Katsina State Police Command in collaboration with the military, Department of State Services (DSS), Katsina State Community Watch Corps (KSCWC), and local vigilantes, took place on April 10, 2025, in the Dandume and Danmusa local government areas.
Acting on credible intelligence, the security team ambushed the bandits at Dutsen Wori Village in Dandume, a known route used by the criminals. This operation resulted in the neutralization of five armed bandits and the recovery of seven operational motorcycles, four Honda cars, and three Boxer models, which were allegedly used in criminal activities. Additionally, a separate operation was conducted in Unguwar Adam and Unguwar Judo villages of Danmusa, where a gun duel ensued, leading to the dislodgment of the bandits and the recovery of two motorcycles and two bicycles.
The arrest of three suspected informants is a crucial step in disrupting the bandits’ network, as these individuals were believed to have been providing vital support to the criminals. The Commissioner of Police, CP Bello Shehu, commended the professionalism and synergy displayed by the operatives, emphasizing the command’s commitment to maintaining peace and security in the state. He also urged the public to continue providing timely and credible information to aid in the fight against banditry.
This operation is part of a broader effort by the Katsina State Police Command to combat banditry. In recent months, the command has recorded significant successes, including the neutralization of several bandits and the rescue of numerous kidnapped victims. For instance, in February, the police neutralized four suspected bandits, arrested 144 suspects, and rescued 105 abducted victims during various operations. These achievements underscore the collaborative efforts between security agencies and local communities in tackling insecurity in the region.
