The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, has officially declared Sunday, March 30, 2025, as Eid-el-Fitr Day, marking the end of the holy month of Ramadan. This announcement follows the sighting of the Shawwal moon, which signifies the conclusion of the 29-day fasting period observed by Muslims worldwide.
The Sultan, who is also the President-General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, made the declaration on Saturday night after receiving credible moon sighting reports from various parts of the country. With the crescent moon now confirmed, Muslim faithful in Nigeria and around the world will celebrate Eid-el-Fitr on Sunday with prayers, thanksgiving, and festivities.
The Sultan congratulated Muslims on the successful completion of Ramadan and urged them to uphold the virtues of self-discipline, compassion, and devotion instilled during the fasting period. As Muslims celebrate Eid-el-Fitr, they are reminded to sustain these values beyond the holy month.
