Tinubu’s 2027 Re-election Bid Receives Boost from Cross River APC, Southern Kaduna Academics

Support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s anticipated re-election bid in 2027 is gaining traction, as the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Cross River State and a forum of academics from Southern Kaduna have thrown their weight behind his administration and endorsed his continuation in office.

The endorsements came during two separate events that underscored growing regional support for the President’s Renewed Hope agenda. In Calabar, the Cross River State chapter of the APC held an expanded caucus meeting at the Hogis Royale Hotel, where party stalwarts, government appointees, and stakeholders unanimously passed a vote of confidence in President Tinubu and Governor Bassey Otu. The gathering also endorsed both men for a second term in their respective offices.

Prominent figures present at the caucus included former Governor Clement Ebri, Minister of State for Industry, Trade and Investment Senator John Owan Enoh, former Senate Leader Victor Ndoma-Egba, and APC chieftain Senator Florence Ita-Giwa, among others. Speakers praised President Tinubu’s commitment to economic reform, infrastructural expansion, and national unity, pointing to landmark projects such as the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway and the Special Agro-Processing Zone in Cross River as evidence of impactful governance.

Governor Bassey Otu was equally commended for his “People First” governance model, which has recorded tangible achievements in key sectors including infrastructure, education, healthcare, aviation, and agriculture. Stakeholders described his leadership as inclusive, people-centred, and in alignment with the broader aspirations of the APC at the national level.

Meanwhile, in Kaduna, the Forum of Southern Kaduna Professors (FOSKAP) – comprising 196 academics – also endorsed President Tinubu and Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State for re-election. Speaking at a press briefing in Kaduna, FOSKAP Chairman Professor John Gambo Laah hailed the Tinubu administration for addressing long-standing developmental neglect in Southern Kaduna.

According to Laah, federal initiatives such as the establishment of the Federal University of Applied Sciences in Kachia, the Federal Medical Centre in Kafanchan, and the Agricultural Development Centre in Manchok represent strategic interventions that are transforming the region’s socio-economic landscape.

“Southern Kaduna is undergoing a rare phase of economic and political transformation under this administration,” Professor Laah stated. “For the first time in our history, the region is receiving concrete federal attention that addresses both our developmental and educational needs.”

The twin endorsements mark a significant moment for the Tinubu presidency, reflecting growing grassroots and intellectual support ahead of the 2027 general elections. Analysts believe such backing from politically diverse regions like Cross River and Southern Kaduna could solidify the APC’s national outlook and lend further credibility to its second-term campaign narrative.

While President Tinubu is yet to formally declare his intention to run for re-election, mounting endorsements and growing party consensus suggest that political momentum is already building in favour of his continued leadership.
