The University of Benin has announced that about 5,000 students risk being barred from the second-semester examinations scheduled to begin on Monday, September 29, for failing to pay their school charges.
In a memo signed by the Registrar, Ademola A. Bobola, the institution emphasized its enforcement of the “no payment of school charges, no examination” policy.
The Registrar noted that despite repeated reminders, thousands of students had yet to comply with payment directives.
The statement also indicated that the affected students did not take advantage of the student loan scheme provided by the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), which was designed to assist in easing financial obligations.
Management directed Provosts, Deans, and Heads of Departments to publish the lists of defaulting students by 8:00 a.m. on Monday.
An enforcement task force chaired by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) has been constituted to ensure strict adherence to the directive.
Students were urged to settle outstanding charges immediately to avoid being denied access to the examinations.
