Veteran winger, Victor Moses, has ended his brief stint with EFL Championship club Luton Town after just one season, following the team’s relegation to League One. The 34-year-old former Super Eagles player joined Luton from Spartak Moscow on a free transfer at the start of the 2024-2025 season.
Moses’ time at Luton Town was marked by disappointment as the team faced relegation for the second consecutive season. After dropping from the English Premier League to the Championship last summer, Luton Town struggled to retain their position in the second tier of English football, ultimately finishing the season in a relegation zone. This outcome led to the club confirming that Moses, along with goalkeeper Tim Krul and several other first-team players, will not be offered contract renewals.
In an official statement on the club’s website, it was announced that Moses, Krul, Jameson Horlick, and other squad members would be departing as their contracts naturally expired. Additionally, Josh Bowler will return to his parent club, Nottingham Forest, following a short-term loan, and Kal Naismith’s half-season loan has concluded, with the defender also returning to Bristol to see out the remainder of his contract.
The club expressed gratitude to the departing players, saying, “We would like to thank Kal, Tim, Victor, Jameson, and Josh immensely for their contributions to the club this season and wish them the best in their future careers.”
Victor Moses, a highly regarded figure in English football, enjoyed a decorated career, having won major titles including the FA Cup, the English Premier League, and the UEFA Europa League during his time at Chelsea. He also played a key role in Nigeria’s Super Eagles team that clinched the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) title in 2013.
Moses’ departure from Luton Town marks the end of a challenging chapter, but with his experience and success in top-flight football, he is expected to continue his career elsewhere.
