Walson-Jack Rallies Civil Servants for Thanksgiving, Urges Stronger Commitment to Public Service

Abuja, June 23, 2025 — The Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Water Resources and Sanitation, Didi Walson-Jack, has called on Nigerian civil servants to rededicate themselves to national service with renewed commitment, professionalism, and integrity.

She made the call during a special thanksgiving service held in Abuja as part of activities marking the 2025 Civil Service Week. The event brought together officials from various Ministries, Departments, and Agencies to offer prayers, reflect on their roles in nation-building, and express gratitude for the progress made within the civil service.

Representing the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Dr. Folasade Yemi-Esan, Walson-Jack emphasised that thanksgiving was not only an act of gratitude but also an opportunity to reflect on the responsibilities civil servants bear in advancing national development. She described public service as a sacred trust that must be approached with diligence and accountability.

“As custodians of government policies and drivers of implementation, civil servants must uphold the values of integrity, loyalty, and efficiency,” she said. “This thanksgiving is a reminder of the privilege we have to serve and the duty we owe the nation.”

She further urged civil servants to embrace ongoing reforms under the Federal Civil Service Strategy and Implementation Plan 2025 (FCSSIP 25), which prioritises digitalisation, human capital development, and service delivery excellence.

The event featured interdenominational prayers, worship sessions, and moments of reflection, reinforcing the importance of unity, purpose, and ethical leadership in public administration.

Civil Service Week continues with several capacity-building activities, awards, and policy dialogues aimed at recognising excellence and fostering innovation across the public service.
