Edo Governor Leads Delegation to Kano, Condoles with Families of Slain Travellers –

A high-powered delegation led by Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has paid a condolence visit to the Kano State Government and the families of the 16 travellers who were allegedly killed in unclear circumstances.

The Edo governor was received at the Malam Aminu Kano International Airport by the Kano State Deputy Governor before proceeding to a meeting with Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf. The delegation also visited the families of the slain hunters in Bunkure, Rano, and Kibiya local government areas.

The visit comes in response to the recent tragic killings, which have sparked concerns over security challenges in the region. The Kano State Government had earlier expressed deep sorrow over the incident, condemning the attack and calling for calm.

In a statement, Commissioner of Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, said, “This unfortunate incident has caused great concern to the government and the good people of Kano State. We will not relent until justice is served.”

The victims, who were travelling from Port Harcourt to Uromi in Edo State, were allegedly attacked under unclear circumstances. Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has approved the immediate dispatch of a high-level delegation to Edo State to ensure justice for the affected individuals and their families.

The delegation will meet with Edo State authorities and security agencies to identify the perpetrators and ensure they are brought to justice. They will also engage with the leadership of the Hausa community in Edo State to discuss the situation and offer recommendations on the way forward.

Meanwhile, the Kano State Government has urged residents to remain calm and avoid actions that could escalate tensions. The government has assured the public that all necessary diplomatic and legal measures are being pursued to address the situation adequately.
