The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has arrested 116 suspects in a series of coordinated raids aimed at tackling illicit drug activities across Abuja.
The operations, carried out by officers of the Anti-Narcotics Section between August 1 and August 20, 2025, targeted identified black spots in Asokoro, Trademore, Mapape, Kurudu, Kubwa, Gwarimpa, Jikwoyi, Utako, Life Camp, Zuba, and Karshi.
Police spokesperson SP Josephine Adeh confirmed in a statement that items recovered during the raids included various illicit substances, hard drugs, and dried leaves suspected to be cannabis.
Following thorough screening, 89 suspects were released, while the remaining 27 individuals have been charged to court for offences including public nuisance and possession of illicit drugs.
Commissioner of Police Ajao S. Adewale commended the operatives for their diligence and reassured residents of the Command’s commitment to a safer, drug-free capital city. He further urged residents to remain law-abiding and to support ongoing police efforts.
