Iran Urges UN Security Council to Condemn Israeli Attacks

June 16, 2025 – Tehran, Iran
The Iranian Foreign Ministry has officially called on the United Nations Security Council to condemn Israel’s recent military strikes on Iranian territory, labeling the attacks as a “blatant violation of international law and Iranian sovereignty.”

In a statement released on Monday, the ministry said:

“We urge the UN Security Council to fulfill its responsibility in maintaining international peace and security by immediately and unequivocally condemning this act of aggression by the Israeli regime.”

The call follows a series of escalating military exchanges between Iran and Israel, which have drawn widespread international concern. Iran insists the strikes targeted civilian infrastructure and non-military sites, while Israel maintains its actions were defensive, aimed at neutralizing threats to its national security.

The Iranian government argues that the attacks not only threaten regional stability but also set a dangerous precedent for unilateral military action without Security Council approval. Iran’s appeal to the UN underscores its strategy of leveraging international diplomacy, even as tensions with Israel continue to intensify.

As of now, the UN Security Council has not scheduled a formal meeting on the matter, though several member states have called for restraint on both sides.
