Ogun State, August 27, 2025 — The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has extended its community development efforts with the provision of a motorized borehole and solar-powered streetlights to residents of Idofa in Yewa North Local Government Area of Ogun State.
The projects were commissioned as part of NAF’s Civil-Military Cooperation initiative, designed to strengthen its relationship with host communities while addressing some of their pressing needs.
Speaking at the commissioning, the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, said the initiative reflects NAF’s commitment to enhancing the welfare of Nigerians beyond its primary mandate of defending the nation’s airspace. He explained that the provision of clean water and solar-powered lighting would improve living conditions, enhance security at night, and contribute to the overall socio-economic development of the community.
Abubakar, represented at the event by a senior officer, emphasized that civil-military cooperation remains a key pillar in fostering mutual trust and partnership between the Air Force and the communities where it operates. He assured residents that NAF would continue to roll out similar people-focused projects in other parts of the country.
Community leaders and residents expressed appreciation to the Air Force for what they described as a timely intervention. They noted that access to potable water and reliable street lighting had been a major challenge for years, adding that the new projects would significantly reduce health risks and improve safety, particularly for women and children.
The event also featured cultural displays and goodwill messages, underscoring the importance of collaboration between security institutions and local communities in building peace and development.
