The 6th Biennial Zonal Women’s Conference of the Nasrul-Lahi-L-Fatih Society (NASFAT) climaxed today Saturday, May 3, 2025, at Eti-Osa Local Community Development Area of Lagos State.

The parley brought together Muslim women and faithful from across the Lagos Zone 1 administrative formations of the Islamic organisation .

Speaking at the event, the National Women Affairs Secretary, Alhaja Ganiyat Omowumi Babalola, commended the organizers for their dedication.

Babalola reaffirmed the role of women in shaping a resilient, spiritually grounded society, insisting empowering women is equal to empowering a nation.

She emphasized the importance of the L.E.A.D Agenda of NASFAT Leadership, Empowerment, Agent of Change, and Dawah saying the agenda has become the guiding principle of NASFAT’s current administration under the leadership of the current President, Alhaji AbdulWahid Ayodeji.

Addressing the theme of the conference, “Faith Through the Storm: An Islamic Approach to Overcoming Hardship with Strength and Grace,” Alhaja Babalola called on Muslim women to support one another, emotionally, spiritually, and financially, especially during times of trials.

She said the need to stand up for one another is at the center of sisterhood, the very concept being promoted by the Deen of Islam.

While acknowledging the unrelenting dedication of the past NASFAT leaders, Babalola said the past women-led initiatives, included the donation of a 30-bed health centre to Fountain University.

In the same vein, Babalola also encouraged support for the ongoing project at the NASFAT Islamic Centre along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, Asese, Ogun State.

She stressed the need for unity, patience, and compassion among the Muslim Sisters, urging participants to remain good ambassadors of the faith by showing dedication to Allah, their families, the Muslim Ummah and the communities.

The Guest Lecturer, Dr. Mustapha Adebayo Bello, a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Islamic Cultural Studies at the Lagos State University, Ojo, delivered a thought-provoking lecture on the topic, “Faith Through the Storm: An Islamic Approach to Overcoming Hardships with Strength and Grace.”

Dr. Bello emphasized the role of unwavering faith, patience, and spiritual resilience in navigating life’s challenges.

Drawing from Qur’anic teachings and the life of Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W), he encouraged Muslim women to see trials such as financial struggles, health issues, and personal losses as tests from Allah, urging them to remain steadfast and hopeful.

He highlighted that through prayer, community support, and a positive mindset rooted in Islamic principles, believers can overcome even the toughest storms with grace.

The lecture was one of the major highlights of the conference, leaving participants inspired and spiritually uplifted.

As part of the program, NASFAT intensified its commitment to holistic well-being of its members with a powerful session on mental health promotion, led by Mr. Ambali Zakariyah Gold, Director of Golden Care Medical Services.

In his address, Mr. Gold emphasized the importance of normalizing conversations around mental health, encouraging families to create safe, and supportive spaces at home.

He urged women to prioritize self-care, conduct regular emotional assessments, and collaborate with professionals to address social and psychological challenges affecting the community.

The conference also witnessed the unveiling of a Janazah Kit by the Lagos Zone 1 Women Affairs Secretary, Alhaja Nusirah Eshilokun.

The initiative, which allows individuals to purchase the kit for N20,000, is aimed at ensuring preparedness for Muslim Burials, whether at home or in the mosque.

The kit launch was widely commended as a thoughtful move to ease the burden on grieving families and reinforce NASFAT’s commitment to serving the Ummah with dignity and compassion.
