NNPC Executive Vice President Commends Progress on Kaduna Refinery’s Quick Fix Project

The Executive Vice President, Downstream, of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd), Mr. Mumuni Dagazau, has expressed satisfaction with the ongoing rehabilitation works at the Kaduna Refining and Petrochemical Company (KRPC) following his recent inspection visit to the facility.

The visit, which took place last week, was part of NNPC’s oversight mechanism to monitor the progress of the ongoing “Quick Fix” project—an accelerated initiative aimed at reviving local refining capacity across Nigeria’s key state-owned refineries.

Mr. Dagazau, accompanied by technical teams and refinery officials, undertook a detailed tour of the plant where he assessed the state of equipment, evaluated rehabilitation timelines, and interacted with on-site engineers and technicians. He commended the workforce for their commitment and professionalism, noting that their efforts were crucial in driving the company’s larger objective of reducing petroleum import dependency.

“I am pleased with the level of progress recorded so far. The workers and technical partners have shown commendable dedication to ensuring that we meet our timelines. This project is not just about restoring operations; it is about strengthening Nigeria’s energy security,” Mr. Dagazau said.

He also reiterated NNPC Ltd’s commitment to reviving all its refineries through strategic investments, partnerships, and transparent execution, in line with the vision of President Bola Tinubu’s administration to boost local refining capacity and ensure energy sustainability.

The Kaduna refinery, once operational, is expected to significantly contribute to meeting domestic fuel demands, reduce pressure on foreign exchange, and create employment opportunities across value chains in the downstream sector.

Stakeholders at the refinery expressed optimism that, with the pace of work and renewed focus from the NNPC leadership, the facility will soon resume partial operations under the Quick Fix framework, setting the stage for broader and long-term refinery modernization.
