Northern Group Commends DSS for Contributions to National Stability, Warns Against Sabotage

The Northern Ethnic Youth Group Assembly (NEYGA) has issued a strong statement commending the Department of State Services (DSS) for its pivotal role in maintaining national stability and combating terrorism and banditry across Nigeria. The group, in a statement signed by its spokesperson, Ibrahim Dan-Musa, praised the DSS for its relentless efforts under the leadership of its Director General, Mr. Tosin Ajayi, highlighting the agency’s professionalism and tangible results in ensuring security.

NEYGA expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for appointing Mr. Ajayi, noting that his leadership has brought a new level of professionalism and accountability to the agency. The group cited recent successes, including the dismantling of criminal networks and the rescue of kidnapped priests, which have been publicly acknowledged by governors Dauda Lawal of Zamfara and Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa.

The statement also addressed what it described as a coordinated campaign to discredit the DSS through false allegations. NEYGA dismissed reports alleging the misuse of sophisticated phone tracking technology by DSS operatives as fabrications aimed at tarnishing the agency’s image. The group recalled past instances where similar false accusations were made, including claims that the DSS abducted a civil rights activist and stormed a federal high court, both of which were later debunked.

Furthermore, NEYGA commended the DSS for its civility in handling public apologies from media houses that had falsely reported an invasion of the Lagos State House of Assembly. The group praised DG Ajayi for his humanitarian gesture in compensating a victim of accidental shooting with ₦20 million,
doubling the initial court-awarded amount.

NEYGA urged the DSS not to be distracted by these attempts at sabotage and to continue its vital work in securing the country. The group emphasized that Nigerians have seen through the misinformation spread by self-styled activists and appreciate the DSS’s commitment to national security.

This endorsement reflects the growing recognition of the DSS’s role in maintaining peace and stability in Nigeria, particularly in the face of ongoing security challenges. As the country continues to navigate these challenges, the support of groups like NEYGA underscores the importance of collaborative efforts in ensuring national security.
