Russia, China and Iran Emphasise: “No One Seeks War with the U.S.” Amid Middle East Crisis

Beijing/Moscow/Tehran, June 23, 2025 – In a rare coordinated message, Russia, China, and Iran have affirmed that none intend to engage in open warfare with the United States, emphasizing restraint even as tensions run high following recent U.S. airstrikes on Iranian nuclear facilities.

At an emergency session of the U.N. Security Council, both Russia and China led calls for a ceasefire. China’s U.N. Ambassador Fu Cong warned: “Peace in the Middle East cannot be achieved by the use of force,” urging diplomatic means over military escalation.

Diplomatic representatives from the three powers convened in Beijing earlier this month, jointly advocating for sanctions relief and diplomatic reunification around Iran’s nuclear programme . Foreign ministries in Moscow, Beijing, and Tehran each reiterated that direct military confrontation with the U.S. would be ill‑advised, given America’s overwhelming military capacity.

President Xi Jinping reportedly told Putin that instability in the Middle East “threatens global peace,” reiterating China’s preference for diplomacy and de‑escalation.

Similarly, Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian said Tehran does not desire war but will respond decisively to aggression.

In an interview, geopolitical analyst Glenn Diesen summed up the shared message from these governments: “Nobody wants a war with the U.S.; it’s a very powerful country.” He noted that while these nations may challenge American policies diplomatically or economically, they are wary of direct military confrontation.
