Sanwo-Olu Declares: Anti-Tinubu Coalition Destined to Fail

July 5, 2025 | Lagos, Nigeria

Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, has strongly dismissed recent opposition alignments against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, affirming that any coalition formed with the intent to undermine his leadership is bound to collapse.

Speaking during a media briefing at the State House in Marina on Friday, Governor Sanwo-Olu said that those forming political coalitions ahead of the 2027 elections with anti-Tinubu motives are doing so out of desperation and personal interest rather than national progress.

“Any coalition that is not rooted in the best interest of Nigerians will fail,” he declared. “President Tinubu’s track record of transformative leadership speaks for itself. Nigerians are seeing the results of hard decisions taken for long-term gain. Those trying to gang up against him are doing so out of fear of his achievements.”

The governor further stated that the current administration’s ongoing reforms in the economy, energy, transportation, and digital infrastructure are creating a solid foundation for future growth, adding that critics have chosen to ignore the tangible progress.

He urged political stakeholders to rise above petty rivalry and work collaboratively in the interest of national development. According to him, President Tinubu remains focused on delivering his Renewed Hope Agenda, undeterred by political distractions.

Sanwo-Olu reiterated that Lagos would continue to stand firmly behind the president and remain a model of governance for the rest of the country.

“The people are watching, and at the right time, they will speak through the ballot again,” he concluded.
