Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu has restated his administration’s commitment to judicial independence and the strengthening of justice delivery in Lagos State.
Speaking at events marking the commencement of the 2025/2026 Legal Year, the governor, represented by the First Lady, Dr. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, pledged continued reforms aimed at ensuring efficiency, transparency, and public trust in the justice system.
He highlighted recent initiatives including the establishment of a commercial court at Tapa, the introduction of practice directions for non-custodial sentencing, the provision of new housing for magistrates, and the construction of a Deputy Sheriff warehouse to secure properties under litigation.
The administration has also invested in digital case management systems to reduce delays and improve access to justice.
Sanwo-Olu described the judiciary as a vital pillar of democracy and urged judges, magistrates, and legal practitioners to uphold impartiality and transparency in discharging their duties.
He further cautioned against the dangers of misinformation eroding public confidence in judicial processes, stressing that disagreements with court rulings should be pursued through lawful channels.
The governor reaffirmed his government’s resolve to partner with the judiciary to deepen reforms and deliver a more efficient justice system for residents of Lagos State.
