The University of Lagos Muslim Alumni (UMA) will convene its 36th Annual General Meeting and Congress on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, at the Islamic Centre of the University Mosque in Akoka-Yaba, Lagos.
The event is designed to address critical career and financial stages for professionals, with a programme focused on personal development and professional growth. According to a statement from the National President, Dr. Mumini Alao, the congress is open to all Muslim graduates of the University of Lagos, including holders of diplomas, certificates, and postgraduate qualifications from both full-time and part-time programmes.
The agenda features two keynote addresses aimed at providing practical guidance. Dr. Ahmed Tunde Popoola, Managing Director and CEO of CRC Credit Bureau, will deliver an educative session on “Retirement Planning for Senior Professionals and Young Graduates,” offering strategic advice for long-term financial security. A second talk by Hajia Shareefah Abiola Andu, Managing Director of Arabel, will explore “Entrepreneurship Opportunities in Current Government Policies for Young Graduates,” informing attendees on how to leverage public initiatives for business success.
Beyond the keynote speeches, the event will include a health awareness session, structured mentorship opportunities, and an introduction to new UMA programmes. The congress will also serve as a platform to review the association’s yearly activities, facilitate networking, and encourage the exchange of business ideas among members.
Dr. Alao expressed anticipation for a significant turnout, urging all eligible alumni to attend the gathering to reconnect with peers and gain valuable insights for their spiritual and professional advancement.
