Emmanuel Odo Appointed Acting Clerk of the Senate

Abuja, Nigeria | September 17, 2025

The National Assembly Service Commission (NASC) has approved the appointment of Emmanuel Odo as the Acting Clerk of the Senate, following a recent leadership adjustment within the legislature’s administrative cadre.

According to a statement issued by the Commission on Wednesday, Odo’s appointment takes immediate effect and is expected to ensure smooth parliamentary operations as the Senate transitions into a new legislative session.

The Commission noted that the decision was made in line with its mandate to provide efficient management of the National Assembly workforce while also ensuring continuity in the running of legislative businesses.

Odo, who has served in various administrative and legislative capacities within the National Assembly, is widely regarded as a seasoned technocrat with years of experience in parliamentary procedures and legislative support services.

The NASC urged the new Acting Clerk to bring his wealth of knowledge and experience to bear in strengthening the capacity of the Senate bureaucracy to support lawmakers in delivering on their constitutional responsibilities.

His appointment comes at a time when the Senate is faced with critical national issues, including legislative reforms, budget scrutiny, and oversight of government policies. Lawmakers have expressed optimism that Odo’s administrative expertise will enhance efficiency and stability in Senate operations.

The National Assembly Service Commission further assured that all necessary support will be provided to the Acting Clerk to enable him discharge his duties effectively.
