Abuja, July 9, 2025 — The Director-General and CEO of the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), Engineer Dr. Abisoye Coker‑Odusote, welcomed Brigadier‑General Olakunle Oluseye Nafiu, Director‑General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), in Abuja on Monday for a courtesy meeting aimed at reinforcing existing collaboration and forging new partnerships between the agencies.
Engr. Coker‑Odusote emphasised the importance of leveraging their synergies to drive national development objectives, particularly through seamless National Identification Number (NIN) enrolment. The meeting focused on expanding youth engagement, harnessing NYSC’s nationwide deployment of corps members to aid grassroots biometric registration, and improving data integrity across Nigeria’s local wards.
Brig‑Gen. Nafiu reaffirmed NYSC’s commitment to supporting national programmes that enhance service delivery and foster citizen inclusion. He highlighted the Corps’ logistical reach and capacity to support NIMC’s efforts in rural and underserved communities, following the model of their successful “Ward Enrolment Initiative” launched earlier this year .
The two leaders agreed to explore new avenues for cooperation, including joint training sessions, data-sharing frameworks, and coordinated outreach activities. Their discussions underscored a shared objective: ensuring every eligible Nigerian—regardless of location—accesses a verifiable identity, thereby strengthening national planning, security, and economic participation.
This renewed partnership reflects ongoing efforts to institutionalise data-driven governance and enhance identity infrastructure—cornerstones of President Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope Agenda.”
